Velodays is today launching a new Scottish cycling challenge from Mull of Galloway to John O'Groats. The 435 mile route passes through some of Scotland's great cycling locations and will give cyclists an entirely Scottish experience.
Velodays are offering two versions of their 'End to End' cycling packages; a touring trip over eight days and a more demanding four day itinerary for those who want to tackle the route 100 miles at a time. Both options are fully supported, with luggage transferred and a vehicle on-hand to offer emergency assistance. Cyclists are kept on-track with 'Sat-Nav' devices on the handlebars, just to make sure there are no wrong turns and unscheduled added miles.
Cycling is a growing tourism activity and already attracts some 168,000* visitors to Scotland each year. VisitScotland Product Manager, Steve Duncan said; "Scotland is a great destination for cycling, with thousands of miles of quiet roads and wonderful scenery. This route itinerary is a great addition to the Scottish cycling product."
Neil Innes of Velodays said: "Lands End to John O'Groats is an iconic cycling challenge, but that doesn't fully explain why the equivalent Scottish route has never gained a similar profile. We are trying to redress the balance a little by promoting this idea and offering cyclists the chance to complete Scotland's ultimate cycling achievement".
