This section is not flat as it is on public roads.

This part of the route is studded with famous distilleries, all producing the smooth Speyside malt whisky. The dirt surface of the railway path is generally quite smooth, immediately south of Craigellachie there are some grassy sections.

Return by road to Craigellachie (12 miles)

If you want to return to Craigellachie by road making this a circular route the distance is the same on the way back but there are some hills. Cross back over the River Spey using the old railway bridge then join the B9102 using an access road. Turn right on to the B9102. You might also like to note that you can get to Grantoun on Spey by turning left at this point, this is an attractive ride too.
